Porvair Materials Aid Powder Fluidisation

Porvair Filtration Group offers a range of high-performance materials that are suitable for use in most fluidisation applications. The fluidisation of powders, using compressed air through a porous media to make them flow like liquids, is a process used in many industries. Applications for powder fluidisation are widespread in the pharmaceutical, food, beverage and construction to move powders such as drugs, flour, plastics and cement, as well as to efficiently empty silos, road and rail tankers.

A new brochure from Porvair describes the wide range of advanced material technologies that the company offers to the powder-handling industry. Drawing upon its Vyon sintered porous plastics, Sinterflo sintered porous metals and Sinterflo M sintered metal meshes, which can be produced in a wide variety of structures (including flat beds, cones and domes), Porvair Filtration is able to fabricate an optimised powder fluidisation solution for most applications.

Porvair Filtration Group's range of powder fluidisation systems is suitable for use with dryers, mixers/blenders, granulators and fluidised beds at high temperatures and in chemically aggressive environments.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
