Samtec Adds Superspeed USB 3.0 To I/O Offering

Electronic interconnect manufacturer Samtec has added Superspeed USB 3.0 to its line of high-speed I/O solutions. In addition to optimised power efficiencies, Superspeed USB 3.0 is said to offer performance advancements over USB with up to 10 times the data transfer rate. Because the system remains cost-efficient and compatible with existing USB-enabled devices, it is said to be a solution to increasing demands for greater bus bandwidth and higher-performance connections in the consumer market.

Samtec now offers Superspeed USB 3.0 certified A-Type and B-Type receptacles (USB3-A and USB3-B series) with through-hole terminations. The mating Superspeed 3.0 certified cable plug (USBC3 series) is available with an A-Type plug on the first end and a B-Type plug on the second end, in a choice of wire lengths. A micro Superspeed USB 3.0 version (UUSB3 series) is also available. Samtec's full line of high-speed I/O systems includes high-speed cable assemblies, standard and increased retention USB products, mod jacks, and transceiver interfaces.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
