SICK Introduces Compact Code Scanners
A new range of code scanners from SICK is designed to provide reliable 1D, stacked and 2D code identification, traceability and anti-counterfeiting in a compact housing. 'The Lector620 sets a new standard in barcode and direct part marking [DPM] scanner design,' said Tim Stokes, the company's barcode product manager. SICK has developed four versions of the new scanner to meet all market demands.
The Eco is the foundation model, while the Standard device is deployed for the rapid implementation of universal applications. The High Speed model has been developed for activities such as packaging and document handling, and finally the DPM can be used for directly applied markings. The Lector is said to be straightforward to use, with parameterisation achieved at the push of a button, while the laser-based alignment assistance reduces training and installation time. The LED illumination also ensures quick analysis of the read-rate performance.
Using decoding algorithms, the new Lector series offers the real-time, reliable decoding of all images captured with a frequency of 60Hz, improving read rates and throughput, as well as the timely detection and elimination of read problems. The Lector620 combines a compact size with a significant field of view, covering 43 x 67mm, a depth of field of 50mm and a 100mm reading distance. A range of IT integration opportunities is available, including serial, Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus and CAN. Commissioning can be carried out without a PC via auto setup.
