Epiphan Exhibits Ultrasound Image Capture Systems
Epiphan Systems exhibited its next-generation Mediphan ultrasound image capture systems at the First World Congress on Ultrasound in Medical Education, which was held in South Carolina on 29-30 April. Customers and business partners were able to see demonstrations of Epiphan's products and solutions for the capture, recording, broadcast and streaming of ultrasound imaging. The Medrecorder II, Mediphan's next-generation portable recording appliance, can be used to record an ultrasound system's display output, an audio annotations source and an optional camera.
Along with the ultrasound display, the analogue camera source can provide visuals of the ultrasound device operator's hand or a panoramic view of the patient. The Medrecorder II also has external remote-control devices such as foot pedals, clickers and Epiphan's new Epiphantouch, an application for Ipad, Iphone and Itouch devices that is used to control the Medrecorder and the Medrecorder II. The Medrecorder II comes with 128G or 256G of internal storage. Another product on display at the event, the Distancedoc II is Mediphan's next-generation portable streaming appliance that can be used to live stream an ultrasound system's VGA/DVI or HDMI display output, an audio annotations source and an optional camera source.
Again, the analogue camera source can be used to provide visuals of the ultrasound device operator's hand or a panoramic view of the patient or the attending professional. In addition to streaming, the Distancedoc II can record the images being streamed to an internal storage device or to a USB-connected flash drive. The Distancedoc II also has external remote-control devices such as foot pedals, clickers and the Epiphantouch application. The Distancedoc II comes with 4G of internal storage. Epiphantouch lets users remotely control and administer the Medrecorder, the Medrecorder II, the Distancedoc, the VGA2Ethernet and other Epiphan video recording appliances.
The Epiphan VGA2Ethernet is a new application for Ipad, Itouch and Iphone devices that lets users remotely view, control and take snapshots of ultrasound images using a VGA2Ethernet connected to an ultrasound system. Users can view live ultrasound images and save snapshots of images to their local Ipad, Itouch and Iphone photo albums. Also on display, a new range of frame grabbers makes an ultrasound machine display appear to be a camera source to professional audio-video content production applications such as Finalcut, Camtasia, Adobe Connect and other training content creation tools.
The high-resolution frame grabbers are designed to support the capture, recording and replay of high-resolution ultrasound images for medical training and education applications. The VGA Printer, meanwhile, is described as a one-touch specialised video source printing solution that can print an ultrasound display from a VGA, DVI or HDMI video signal output to a standard postscript printer with the push of a button. This product can be used to create printed images for patient billing records.
The VGA/DVI Grid, also exhibited at the First World Congress on Ultrasound in Medical Education, non-obtrusively relays, synchronises, timestamps, records, streams and/or replays one or more ultrasound (DVI , VGA or HDMI) display signals and one or more or attendant camera sources onto any number of display channels. This is suitable for ultrasound clinics and training facilities that want to record, share and replay ultrasound equipment display images, camera sources and views for clinical and medical training.
The VGA Recorder Pro provides screen, video and audio recording for medical training video creation. It supports screen and video camera input, synchronised picture-on-picture overlays with an optional branding logo window and a timestamping window for creating medical training video content. In addition to the ultrasound display, the analogue camera source can provide a view of the presenter, the ultrasound device operator's hand or a panoramic view of the patient.
