Bonfiglioli Inverters Chosen for Photovoltaic Park
Bonfiglioli has supplied inverters for Europe's largest photovoltaic park, which was connected to the grid in the north-eastern Italian province of Rovigo in November 2010. The park has an installed capacity of 70MW and covers an area of more than 850,000m2 - the equivalent of 120 football pitches. The installation comprises 840km of cabling and 50km of cable ducts.
The Rovigo photovoltaic park will produce enough energy to supply 16,500 homes and will eliminate 40,000 tons of CO2 - the equivalent of taking 8,000 cars out of circulation every year. Bonfiglioli played a fundamental role in the development of this park by supplying 50 per cent of its inverters. The installation was connected to the grid in just nine months from the start of project.
