AWS Discusses Quality Issues Concerning SC21
AWS Electronics was recently invited to discuss quality issues and especially the benefits of SC21 at the IAQG Annual Conference. The International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) is a co-operative global organisation of companies responsible for a range of quality accreditations and quality-management systems within the aerospace and space sectors. ADS, who facilitated this conference at York (UK), dedicated conference time to a discussion on its UK-led initiative, SC21, which is aimed at improving the aerospace supply chain.
Although awareness is growing globally, this was an opportunity to provide an international quality audience with the view from the UK. AWS was joined in the presentation by Paul Egan, purchasing manager, Thales UK, as one of the leading prime contractors using SC21. The emphasis at the IAQG conference was on quality systems and accreditation. 'The SC21 programme has, at its heart, accreditation with EN AS 9100 and NADCAP - these are prerequisites to starting the programme and they are all managed by the IAQG,' said Mike Berridge, AWS group director of business improvement. An executive panel question and answer session was conducted at the end of the conference with Boeing, Sikorsky, Thales, ADS, BAE and AWS representing on the stage.
