Thermal-Imaging Cameras Enable Plant Maintenance

Flir has upgraded its P660 and P640 thermal-imaging cameras for plant maintenance, enabling them to prevent failures in electro-mechanical systems through detection of the smallest anomalies. The cameras are now able to detect temperature differences as small as 0.03C, which equates to a thermal sensitivity of 30mK.

With their 640 x 480 uncooled detectors, the cameras can detect even relatively minor problems and show them in sharp thermal images. Higher sensitivity means that the cameras can be used effectively at a greater distance away from the target - an important safety factor for those inspecting high-voltage installations.
