Mogensen Supplies Handling Equipment For Mining

Mogensen Raw Materials Handling has announced that it will supply handling equipment for the quarrying/open-cast mining sector in Chile. The equipment is to be installed at the Aguas Blancas mine in Northern Chile and comprises a 3m-wide five-deck Mogensen Sizer, a matching 3m vibratory spreader feeder, the support structure, control gear and spares. The equipment, which will be working alongside a Barmac crusher, will be handling 356tph of caliche, making separations at 28mm and 2.5mm.

The Sizer will remove 30tph of coarse stone and 120tph of fines below 2.5mm (the product required for further processing) from the material received from the Barmac. The system as a whole will receive 150tph of fresh feed, the circulating load being 206tph. Chilean caliche contains stone, sand, gypsum, plus chloride, nitrate, sulphate and borate salts of sodium, along with potassium nitrate and high-value iodine-containing minerals, the latter providing the current economic motive for working the deposits. The Mogensen machines will each be powered by two counter-rotating Invicta rotary electric vibrators, 6,200W Type BLZ 60-105/6 in the case of the Sizer and 1,800W Type BLZ 40-27/6 for the feeder.
