2A switching regulator for space-confined systems

V-Infinity has added a 2A model to its V78XX switching regulator series, which is ideal for applications where board space is at a premium and energy efficiency is a concern. The compact V78XX-2000 series has been designed to be a high-performance alternative to linear regulators and doesn't require a heat sink. The series has efficiencies up to 92 per cent in a SIP package measuring 11.5 x 9 x 17.5mm.

Units are pin-out compatible with industry-standard LM78XX linear regulators and come in straight and right-angle pin configurations. This series has an available input range from 4.75 to 18V DC and regulated output voltages of 2.5, 3.3, 5, and 6.5V DC. Its operating temperature range spans -40 to 85C at 100 per cent load. The non-isolated converters offer short-circuit protection, thermal shutdown, low ripple and noise, and an MTBF of 2 million hours.
