Suction And Filtering Unit Suits Smaller Workshops

The Teka Filtoo is a mobile suction and filtering unit designed for the local extraction of fumes, dust and gases found in welding, bonding, gluing, brazing and soldering, available from Flextraction. The BIA-approved 1,3kW, 230V or 110V/50Hz Filtoo takes polluted air in through the suction hood and hose into four filters: the G4 10-piece coarse filter separates any dust particles; the F5 pre-filter filters finer dusts; the F9 main Hepa filter filters other fine dust particulates with a more than 99 per cent separation efficiency; and the activated carbon filter absorbs any unpleasant odours.

Clean air is returned to the workshop through an outlet grill at the rear of the unit. The Filtoo has a fan capacity of 2,500m3/hr with a low operating noise level of 72dB(A). It is available from stock for a next-day delivery and is supplied with the option of either a self-supporting extraction arm or a flexible hose on the side for attaching to a processing application. It is said to be user-friendly, with large access doors for easy filter changing. It features an operating hours meter, an audible alarm for when the filters need changing, and four casters with two having brakes. The Filtoo weighs 80kg and measures 580 x 580 x 900mm, making it ideal for the smaller workshop.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
