Sirane To Unveil Flower Packaging Solutions At IPM

Sirane will showcase its flower packaging solutions, ideal for supermarkets, florists and distributors, at the IPM commercial horticulture exhibition in Essen, Germany, on 25-28 January 2011. The company's Flower-Fresh pouch - launched two years ago - is available in standard and compostable versions and is targeted at the international flower business. The flower pouch is manufactured from Resolve, Sirane's trademarked absorbent packaging material.

The standard Flower-Fresh pouches contain super-absorbent materials that maintain a cool reservoir of water around the flower stems. The packaging product has a key role in ensuring product integrity in postal deliveries and for transit bouquets that are delivered to retailers, thus ensuring the freshness, quality and leak-proofness of the bouquet. The compostable version of Fresh Resolve is made from natural, plant-based compostable materials that can be safely discarded with the flowers themselves and will biodegrade within approximately nine weeks.

Fresh Resolve can be produced in any colour, green being the most popular with customers; black is proving to be a popular alternative. The Resolve material is fully compliant with the EN 13432 compostable standard and is made using a proprietary process without adhesives or bonding materials. Sirane has also obtained the international Din Certco standard - issued by the Composting Association - for its entire Dri-Fresh Resolve range of compostable packaging. The company's Resolve Fresh pouch can be composted in home or industrial compost systems.
