RSH Tank Cleaners Meet EHEDG Hygiene Criteria

Alfa Laval has announced that two models from its range of rotary spray head tank-cleaning machines for the food industry and other hygienic sectors have received full EHEDG certification. The two machines that have received full European Hygienic Engineering Design Group (EHEDG) certification for compliance with that organisation's Hygienic Equipment Design Criteria are the Sanimidget SB and Sanimidget Ultra Pure.

The Sanimidget SB and Sanimidget Ultra Pure are both rotary spray head (RSH) machines designed for cleaning tanks and vessels within industries where hygiene is crucial. They join the company's Sanijet rotary jet head tank-cleaning machines, which achieved EHEDG certification in 2004. The Sanimidget SB series of tank-cleaning machines is intended for use in closed tanks, vessels and containers employing typical clean-in-place procedures. The machines have a range of application areas within pharmaceutical, food, dairy and chemical industries, cleaning tanks up to 10m3 in capacity with a single machine. For larger vessels, multiple heads can be grouped together.

Motive force provided by the cleaning fluid itself causes the head of the Toftejorg Sanimidget to rotate and send fan jets in a swirling pattern throughout the vessel. It is the combination of fluid impact and cascading flow that ensures the internal surfaces of the tank are cleaned. In addition, the Sanimidget SB has a self-cleaning feature whereby the cleaning media flows through the rotating bearing track and onto the neck of the elongated head. Sanimidget SB is also authorised to carry the 3A logo.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays.
