Rohde And Schwarz Details New Oscilloscope Ranges

Rohde and Schwarz is launching two new oscilloscope product families with a total of six instruments for applications in wireless communications, aerospace, defence and wide-base electronics. The RTO family, comprising oscilloscopes with bandwidths of 1GHz and 2GHz, is aimed at the high-performance segment with a focus on speed and optimum signal fidelity. These characteristics, combined with a touch-screen interface for ease-of-use, enable users to accomplish complex test and measurement tasks in a minimum of time.

The RTM family is intended for universal applications wherever electrical signals need to be measured, Rohde and Schwarz offers scopes with solid features at a good price/performance ratio in the mid-range segment up to 500Mhz for use by researchers, schools or hobbyist labs. The company's subsidiary Hameg Instruments covers the needs of markets requiring more basic oscilloscopes for bandwidths up to 350MHz.

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved.
