MD-0003 Allows Non-Contact Temperature Measurement

Dexter Research Center has introduced a low-cost module for non-contact temperature measurement with integrated ASIC. The MD-0003 module, which is housed in a TO-5 housing, utilises the SMBus with two wires, allowing up to 100 sensors to be linked to each other. This component is available for 3 and 5V applications. The measurement range spans -70 to 310C and, in the interval from 0 to 50C, a repeatability of 0.5K is achieved. The rate of emission can be adjusted externally.

A calibration by the manufacturer is stored in the ASIC. All data apply to thermal equilibrium. The sensor is available on a standard basis without imaging optics with a fan angle of 90deg. The MD-0004 evaluation board is available on an optional basis and is controlled using a USB interface and a PC. The set comes complete with simple test software.
