InGaAs Image Sensors Suit Industrial Applications

The G11097-0606S from Hamamatsu Photonics is a range of 2D InGaAs image sensors designed for industrial applications, including low-resolution thermal imaging, laser beam profiling and more. Additional applications include near-infrared image detection and foreign object detection. Hamamatsu Photonics said the G11097-0606S complements the existing range of high-performance linear image sensors.

The G11097-0606S consists of a CMOS readout integrated circuit (ROIC) and a back-illuminated InGaAs photodiode array, which are connected via indium bumps on a hybrid structure. The G11097-0606S features simultaneous charge integration and a 5MHz video data rate. Also included within the ROIC is a timing generator to allow simplified operation.

Featuring large 50 x 50um pixels, the G11097-0606S is said to offer high sensitivity in the 0.95um to 1.7um infrared region, with good linearity characteristics. A one-stage thermoelectric cooler acts to lower the dark current and increase the signal-to-noise ratio, allowing the sensor to be used in more demanding imaging applications.
