Indentec Launches Micro Hardness Tester
Indentec, the hardness testing specialist of the Zwick Roell Group, has introduced three models of the ZHu micro hardness instrument. These latest models are said to offer users high accuracy and varying levels of automation, depending on the application and budget. The ZHu is available in manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic configuration, each tailored to individual customer requirements.
The instrument has a test force range of 10 to 2,000gf and the ability to supply four objective lenses and two indenters (Vickers and Knoop) in a motorised turret. The ZHu is supplied with UKAS calibration certificates to ISO 6507, ISO 4545 and ASTM E384 standards and is therefore compliant with Nadcap and ISO 17025 quality assurance standards.
The ZHu-A version provides fully automatic operation, thus eliminating the operator from all aspects of the test and measurement process. The tester has the ability to scan the entire surface of the sample in order to quickly and accurately position multiple test points. This functionality makes the ZHu-A suitable for 'effective case depth determinations' of hardened layers and 'heat affected zone investigations' of weld sample sections.
