Program 1000 Latches Allow Extensive Adjustments

Emka has introduced the Program 1000 'compression lift-and-turn' swinghandle-style latches. These are particularly suitable for vibration-prone situations for closure of cabinets/enclosures, especially in air-conditioning or vehicle equipment access situations, as well as other similar applications that require substantial opportunity for adjustment.

These flush-fitting compression latches feature extensive adjustment of cam position. A variety of matching shaft lengths and cam bends allows the adjustment of overall depth and tightness of pull onto the gasket; this enables flexibility in fitment. Standard security options include locking, non-locking and tool operation.

Single-screw saddle clamp fitment accommodates up to 6mm panel thickness with a grip range from 6 to 56mm dependant upon cam selected; it provides 6mm of gasket pull down. Material is die cast, finished in black powder coat, polished chrome or satin chrome.

FUSE SIZING CONSIDERATIONS FOR HIGHER EFFICIENCY MOTORS

When selecting the proper fuse for short circuit protection in motor starting applications, it is important to not only ensure that the fuse will not nuisance open during motor start up times, but also that the fuse will coordinate as required with overload relays. When sizing fuses between 125% and 150% of the motor nameplate current, several advantages, including ease of coordination with an overload device, a smaller disconnect, and increased short circuit protection from a lower fuse rating, can be achieved. However, if sizing at this level prevents the motor from starting, it may then be necessary to increase the fuse ampere rating and it then becomes important to know the NEC sizing limitations.
