Fastener Manufacturer Unveils UK Testing Centre

Ejot has made significant investment into its Ejot Applitec development and testing facility, which now forms part of a complete conference and hospitality suite at the company's UK base near Leeds. The company said that every year, thousands of assembly solutions for globally recognised products are tested by Applitec, providing important data on strengths and fastener capability for a multitude of sectors, including automotive, pharmaceuticals, white goods, security and defence, and building and construction.

The new UK Applitec facility will maintain a continued high level of technical response to clients and allow them to visit and see first-hand the technology in action in a real-world environment. The centre will present its work on three levels: application, demonstration and exhibition. The application area features machinery that will assist in ascertaining the forces exhibited during the construction of an engineered joint. The application testing facilities offer performance and installation testing across construction, engineering and automotive areas.

This equipment supports Applitec's 'human' think-tank, whose task it is to develop fastener technology and support customers with their existing, current and future fastening systems. Experienced gained from application testing is important in understanding the physical and environmental performance of connections, which is essential in the development of new fastening techniques. One example of this is Valeo Vision's brief to the Ejot research and development (RandD) team to develop a thermoplastics solution for a miniature automotive camera assembly.

More than 40 test runs were conducted by the Ejot team as it worked to achieve the optimal repeatable installation process for the final design. The demonstration area allows for full built-up systems to be constructed and displayed for both customer and training needs. This area provides a training resource for Ejot staff and will provide training and demonstrations for customers, ranging from site installation teams to OEMs and system suppliers covering all the sectors that Ejot operates within.

Demonstrations of new products can be qualified by highlighting the application methods and systems utilised as a result of the collaboration between OEMs and the Ejot RandD team. The exhibition area allows visitors to view and discuss fastener technology in an environment designed to promote creativity - an industry-focused workshop.
