Misumi Releases Z-Axis Simplified Adjustment Unit

Misumi USA has launched a Z-axis simplified adjustment unit, suitable for the less demanding positioning and adjustment of jig fixtures, cameras, sensors and spray nozzles. The new unit (part number ZKB20) is a long-stroke, scaled-post, vertical-travel positioning device commonly used in manufacturing and assembly plants to make up-and-down height adjustments as needed in positioning devices.

The units can also be used for slotted-hole adjustments and setup changes. The new Z-axis simplified adjustment units provide secure clamping to prevent shaft rotation and they feature an easy-to-read scaled post and a rack-and-pinion feed mechanism that allows for fast, easy adjustments with a simple rotation of the handle. The result is more accurate alignment during setup and improved stability in maintaining the proper position during operation. Available in various lengths to accommodate travel distances ranging from 70mm to 170mm, the Z-axis simplified adjustment units are ruggedly constructed to withstand repetitive long-term use.

The post material is 304 stainless steel. The block is made of 6063 aluminium alloy with a clear anodised finish and the handle is 5067 aluminium alloy. The rack-and-pinion gears are formed of 1045 carbon steel. Brackets for the ZKB20 units are sold separately so that users can select bracket types that fit each installation surface (such as tabletop mounts and wall mounts).

In addition to the new Z-axis unit, Misumi offers a range of simplified adjustment units designed for manual adjustment in less demanding positioning applications. The simplified units provide an economical alternative to building or purchasing the more complex and costly precision stages often required in automated positioning applications, according to the company. The Misumi line includes feed-screw, push-screw and rack-and-pinion feed mechanisms, and the products are offered in a variety of axis styles.
