CMOS-Based Sensors Gain Environmental Approval

Sensirion, which produces humidity and temperature sensors, mass flow meters and controllers, gas and liquid flow sensors, as well as differential pressure sensors, has been certified to ISO 14001. This environmental standard certificate is a result of the sensor manufacturer's endeavours to improve the company's sustainability and to professionally manage all environmental aspects. The Swiss company states that reduction in energy consumption is an important goal.

For instance, a focal point in the construction of the new production building is minimisation of the energy demand. Emphasis is also given to the safe handling of chemicals, ensuring safety both for humans and for the environment. The replacement of hazardous substances by less harmful ones wherever possible is a standing goal. This includes, for example, the replacement of greenhouse gases with an environmentally friendly alternative in the sensors' calibration process.

Sensirion products are distinguished by their use of patented CMOSens technology. The manufacturer's quality management system was certified in March 2008 in accordance with the ISO/TS 16949 standard.
