Tyco Announces PCB Power Connector

The Stacked ICCON power connector from Tyco Electronics increases power densities in high-end data and telecommunications equipment. With a current-carrying capacity of 50A in a compact footprint, the Stacked ICCON connector provides a quick-connect/disconnect function for space-constrained power delivery applications.

The stacked configuration provides two ports vertically stacked to preserve real estate on the board. ICCON connectors use Tyco's Crown Band contacts, a multi-fingered spring that provides a greater surface contact area, thus ensuring small millivolt drop, minimum heat generation and very low insertion and extraction forces.

Mating pin contacts are screw machined and feature silver plating. 'This connector provides a solution where space constraints do not permit the use of separate power and guide module components,' said Mike Blanchfield, global product manager for Tyco Electronics' power interconnects.

A choice of three pin lengths is available for sequencing.

The connector is compatible with many popular two-piece backplane connector systems.
