Victrex ST Polymer For Demanding Environments

Victrex has introduced the Victrex ST polymer product range, designed to perform in applications requiring a combination of high temperature, mechanical performance and dimensional stability. Victrex ST forms part of the Victrex Peek product family and has been launched with two grades: Victrex ST STG45 polymer (an unfilled grade) and Victrex ST ST45GL30 (a glass-filled grade).

The company said the polymer was developed to meet customers' needs for a high-performance material with improved mechanical performance at higher temperatures, while maintaining the properties of purity, electrical and chemical resistance, dimensional stability and low permeability and moistures. It added that Victrex STG45 has improved mechanical performance, especially in the temperature range from 150C (302F) to 200C (392F).

Victrex ST45GL30 features a heat distortion temperature of 380C (716F), opening up new application opportunities for customers who work at temperatures in excess of 300C (572F). Victrex said this combination of benefits provides customers another choice when placing applications in demanding temperature environments such as those found in the oil and gas, electronics or automotive industry.

Equipment or parts made with Victrex ST polymer have the potential to perform better, last longer and help customers realise long-term cost savings. Victrex ST polymer is a metal replacement option for many types of applications, such as gears, seals, rings, valve plates, wire coating, disk-drive carriers, connectors and test sockets.
