Connectors Available In Screw-Contact Versions

Souriau has announced that its standard UTS all-plastic connector range for severe operating environments is now available in a screw-contact version. The product allows easy connection with no need for dedicated tools and offers high-level sealing (IP68 and IP69K), as well as fast connections.

Connecting screw-termination contact UTS connectors does not require any specific expertise or tools; an ordinary screwdriver is enough to connect the wires to the contacts. This means that the connectors are especially suited to field applications including: tunnel ventilation; video-surveillance; traffic control and road signals; car park detection systems; and metrological measurement systems.

Screw-contact UTS connectors naturally benefit from the sealing performance offered by the UTS range, to IP68 or IP69K standards. This requires that characteristics remain stable when immersed to a depth of 10m and during high-pressure cleaning operations using 140 bar sprays. The sealing is retained even when the cable is pulled in all directions.

The material used - a high-performance plastic - is resistant to impact and vibration and offers good temperature performance (from -40C to 105C). In addition, the UTS connector is salt-mist resistant (for 500 hours) and UV resistant, increasing its reliability when used outdoors. Furthermore, UTS screw-contact connectors are intermateable and interchangeable with UTS layout crimp and solder contact versions.

In the same way, a connector with crimped or soldered contacts can be connected to a screw-contact terminal and vice versa. UTS screw-contact terminals are equipped with the Trim Trio locking mechanism: a one-third of a turn bayonet locking mechanism with a click-lock motion.

It is available in four- and seven-contact versions that are VDE 0110 certified (for low-power supplies and signal transmission without using the Ethernet protocol) and they mechanically rated at 250 mating cycles.
