SFP+ Cable Assemblies Enable 10Gb/s Ethernet Apps

The SFP+ copper and Paralight active optical cable assemblies offer a cost-effective alternative to standard fibre-optic cables in 10Gb/s Ethernet, 8Gb/s Fibre Channel and Infiniband applications. SFP+ copper cable assemblies enable hardware OEMs and data-centre operators to achieve high port density and configurability at a low cost and reduced power requirement. Tyco Electronics' SFP+ copper assemblies meet the industry MSA (multi-source agreement) for signal integrity performance.

The Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) interconnect system is a four-channel package, offering three times the density of traditional SFP ports and supporting speeds up to 10Gb/s per channel (suitable for 8Gb/s Fibre Channel and 10Gb/s Ethernet). The Tyco Electronics Paralight active optical cable assemblies use state-of-the-art technology to provide cost-effective high data throughput interconnects. They are available in lengths of up to 100m using 50um fibre.

The optoelectronic circuitry is designed for use with 8B/10B encoded data streams, such as Infiniband, Fibre Channel and XAUI communication protocols. These products can eliminate the requirement of GBIC (gigabit interface convertor) transceivers and fibre patch cords for short interlinks between network switches, enterprise storage devices and servers. Tyco Electronics offers the complete portfolio of cable and interconnect products for OEMs and data-centre operators.
