Dassault And BMW Link Research And Development

Image
Dassault Systemes has signed a five-year global strategic agreement with BMW . Through this agreement, the companies will establish a close link between their research and development centres to improve the DS automotive product offering and the BMW development and production process. Dassault Systemes software solutions support BMW in core areas of design and manufacturing process planning, with Catia as the backbone for product development. The necessity to reduce CO2 emission levels has forced automotive manufacturers to reshape their business processes to produce greener cars. Fully embracing the cause of leaving a minimum carbon footprint on the planet, the implementation of the DS solutions will help automakers conceive, analyse and simulate eco-friendly low-emission vehicles, such as the Project I, a Megacity vehicle, optimised for better performance and low energy consumption. By consolidating design in a single PLM software platform, BMW can tap into proven design concepts and...

Oris Pro Assay Accelerates Cell-Migration Research

Image
Amsbio has added the Oris Pro Cell Migration Assay to its range of 96-well cell exclusion zone assays for performing cell migration and cell invasion experiments. The new assay kit, which complements the popular Oris Cell Migration Assay, now enables researchers to save time and cost by using automated liquid-handling equipment for fast set-up of high-throughput assays. Researchers can now capture and quantify real-time cell-migration data using microscopes, high content screening (HCS) and high content imaging (HCI) instruments. Typical results are highly reproducible, excellent well-to-well CVs and robust Z factors, which make the new kit suitable for productive compound screening. The Oris Pro Assay uses a biocompatible gel (BCG) to form a cell-free zone on culture surfaces. After seeding cells into the 96-well plate, the BCG dissolves permitting cells to migrate into the well centres.

Research Proves Efficiency Of Ion Science PIDs

A recent evaluation has proved Ion Science PID technology performs efficiently in high-humidity environments. Tests have shown Ion Science PIDs are up to twice as accurate as some of their competitors, are more consistent and give faster results. The trials evaluated a PID cell incorporating Fence Electrode Technology against one equipped with Humidity Compensation. The data showed that when subjected to high humidity, a Fence Electrode PID is much less subject to drift, while responding and clearing out faster, resulting in fewer non-reports. To further strengthen and support the recent findings, the Ion Science Phocheck+ PID has received independent verification as the best performing PID by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (ME DEP). The outcome of the evaluation conducted by the ME DEP led the Phocheck+ 3000 to be selected, mainly because of its fast and consistent readings. For further information, the documented report 'An Evaluation of Competing Technologi...
