Sherborne Launches Accustar Electronic Clinometer

Image
Sherborne Sensors has launched the Accustar electronic clinometer, which is designed to provide precision angular measurements within applications where a high degree of accuracy is required. The design of the Accustar incorporates a capacitance-based sensor without moving parts. When rotated about its sensitive axis, this sensor provides a fundamentally linear variation in capacitance, which is electronically converted into high-precision angular data. Available in choice of analogue, ratiometric, digital or serial models, the Accustar electric clinometer offers a +/-60deg measurement range, outputting a signal that corresponds to the direction and magnitude of angular displacement. The compact Accustar measures 2in (50mm) in diameter and weighs 2oz (60g), with units designed to operate in temperatures of -30C to +65C. The sensor and its associated low-power CMOS electronics are encased in a plastic housing. With its durable design, the Accustar is suitable for a variety of applicati...

Sherborne Launches Closed-Loop Servo Inclinometers

Sherborne Sensors has introduced the LSI series of closed-loop gravity-referenced servo inclinometers in North America. The LSI series is designed to withstand severe shock and vibration inputs for precision measurement capabilities in demanding environments. It incorporates a flexure-supported torque balancing system, which is rugged enough to withstand shock inputs of 1,500G, while still providing accuracy and repeatability over a wide operating temperature range, according to the company. Sensor components and associated electronics are contained within an IP64 environmentally sealed housing. Units are available in ranges of +/-14.5 degrees, +/-30 degrees and +/-90 degrees and offer a high-level, 5V analogue DC-output signal, proportional to sine of the angle of tilt. LSI-series models are fully self contained and are able to connect to a DC power source and a readout or control device to form a complete operating system. These units are suitable for use in civil engineering, struc...

Sherborne Launches A545 Linear Accelerometers

Image
Sherborne Sensors has introduced the A545 range of single, biaxial and triaxial solid-state linear accelerometers, designed to measure acceleration and deceleration in harsh environments. Available in ranges from +/-2G to +/-500G, A545 series accelerometers feature an advanced MEMS sensor, incorporating air damping. Unlike fluid-damped devices, air damping is essentially independent of temperature, which enables the transducer to perform over a wide temperature range. Sensors are fully compensated for temperature effects on both sensitivity and zero, and incorporate positive mechanical stops. Housed within a lightweight (less than 40g), durable light alloy package with solder pin connectors, the A545 series provides shock resistance and over-ranging protection. The A545 series is designed to operate from an unregulated DC power source and have useable frequency responses from DC to several kHz. Typical applications for the A545 series include data acquisition systems, crash testing, f...
