Schneider Launches Compact Book-Style Drive Range

Image
Schneider Electric has launched its Lexium 32 range, comprising three servo drives and two servomotor types. The simplified drive range comes in a compact book style and has been developed to meet OEM architectures, with advanced tuning features and motors with a wide machine inertia. Applications span a range of machinery, including printing, textiles, packaging and material working and handling. These new products also work with the new book-style Altivar 32 range of variable-speed drives due to be launched by Schneider Electric in April; the Altivar 32 drives will feature at the Drives and Controls exhibition in June. A key feature of the new Lexium range is its compact book size, which sees the servo drive, in combination with the servomotor, delivering maximum power in the minimum area, saving up to 50 per cent of the space in the machine control cabinet, according to the company. With its breadth of fieldbus communication and encoder cards, the Lexium 32 range adapts to a variet...

Schneider Provides Interfaces For Nicholl Food

Image
Schneider Electric has supplied its Magelis HMIs to Nicholl Food Packaging after the company recognised the need for open connectivity so that HMIs could be integrated with existing PLCs. Nicholl Food Packaging is a specialist manufacturer of aluminium foil containers and catering disposables for all sectors of the food industry. At its 10-acre Cannock site, production is handled by a large number of electronically controlled presses. The old HMIs and existing PLCs were installed a number of years ago and because the new HMIs would need to provide the vital control and monitoring capability, they had to be completely compatible with these existing PLCs. It was the need to replace these unreliable HMIs that led engineering manager Joe Taylor to Schneider Electric. 'We were experiencing ongoing problems with failure of our existing HMIs, some apparently caused by machine vibration,' he said. 'We spent a long time trying to rectify the problem but were eventually left with no...

Schneider Unveils Space-Saving Enclosures

Image
Schneider Electric has introduced a range of floor-standing enclosures designed to offer a combination of space-saving features, flexibility and ease of installation. The Spacial SF/SM range has a design that can help reduce the time and cost of putting together an enclosure solution. A key feature of the design is the inset door that reduces the footprint of each enclosure. Enclosures can be coupled in any direction, which enables multiple configurations, with integrated panels optimising available space. With eight captive screws per panel, installation time is minimised and doors and panels can be mounted by one person. The Spacial SM range is available in 45 different sizes and comprises two parts: a body and a welded back. This body construction is able to withstand admissible loads up to 600kg. Spacial SF products are available in 65 sizes, which have a profile that features high inertia and a framework that withstands loads up to 1,000kg. The Spacial SF range is available with ...
