Atmel Touchscreen Controller to Power Atmel Tablet
Atmel has announced that Samsung has selected the Atmel Maxtouch mXT1386 touchscreen controller to power its flagship Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is said to currently be the thinnest tablet available on the market, measuring 8.6mm. It sports a 10.1in widescreen HD display with 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution and weighs 1.25lb. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 joins Samsung's collection of Android devices currently powered by Atmel Maxtouch technologies, including the original 7in Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy S smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is an Android Honeycomb 3.1 tablet powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor. Its 10.1in widescreen display features highly responsive, full multi-touch capability with the Atmel Maxtouch mXT1386,with the ability to track up to 10 fingers simultaneously. It includes a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with auto focus and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat, as well as a full-featured browser with support for Adobe Flash 10. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 features Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity for rapid mobile download speeds.
